When the polls close on Tuesday night at the States, it will be Wednesday morning here. In this segment of CNN’s The Campaign Trail, Jonathan Mann runs through the times the polls close and when we can get a snapshot of who wins which states. The following lists the crucial battlegrounds. All of them — with the exception of Pennsylvania — were former Bush states. All of them have to be won by McCain. If Obama wins any single one of Bush states plus Pennsylvania, he wins.
All times are in Manila time, Wednesday.
- 8:00am – Virginia
- 8:30am – North Carolina, Ohio
- 9:00am – Pennsylvania, Florida
- 10:00am – New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada
Playing around with the map at Real Clear Politics, here is my prediction of what will happen on Wednesday morning. (In case you don’t already know, a candidate needs 270 electoral college votes to win.)
