[Hands that Help Build a Nation] Episode 5: Katutubong Filipino Foundation

Today’s episode echoes the concerns we raised in The Myth of Gawad Kalinga which was a rather polemic piece on the colorful housing project that has endeared itself to a lot of Filipinos. We pointed out their misstep in Sitio Target and have expressed our concern that they pay more attention to culture and context in the future, especially when we deal with indigenous people.

This has been the mission ever since of the Katutubong Filipino Foundation which endeavored to learn and protect our rich indigenous cultures.

One of the main concerns in the study of Philippine history is discovering exactly what the Filipino identity is. This can be gleamed from the tribes and communes which have endured through the ages. Yet the first step is to protect them in order to discover the secrets they hold. That is where we come in.
